About Julie
Julie Picot has been riding competitively since the age of 6. She grew up riding Hunter/Jumpers at Fast Lane Farm, under the instruction of Laurie and Brad Beauchamp. Julie would often spend her summers helping Laurie to exercise and train the horses. Sadly in 1996 Brad and Laurie moved to New Mexico. In 1997 Julie ran for Miss Rodeo Lakeside and actually was awarded 1st runner up. She spent the next year riding in local rodeos and parades promoting the sport of rodeo. Julie eventually found
horses to ride at Winnetka Ranch, and began taking dressage lessons. For the last 10 years Julie has been training horses in different disciplines....including driving!! Julie loves to show off her talent in the show ring....she'll often be asked to catch ride horses just before a class starts!

Julie may have grown up showing mainly Thoroughbreds but over the years she has come to discover the joy of other breeds. She has really been enjoying the Draft horses and Mules!! In 2005 she became the owner of Apple Blossom a pregnant untrained Belgian mare. Blossom was pretty rank when she arrived, but now she is an upstanding citizen of the horse
community. Julie often does driving demos and horse shows with Blossom. Blossom is now competitive in the show arena...in 2006 she received Reserve in Double Jeopardy at the Saddle and Harness Shows. And in 2007 she was awarded with High Point Draft Horse at the L.A. Fair.
In 2006 she was lucky enough to asked to show Doug and Donna Griffith's award winning Hunter Mule...Cindy G. Cindy is such a fabulous mule with true hunter form. Julie had a blast getting to show her up at Bishop Mule Days....they even cleared the 4' oxer twice!! Julie even got to try out her luck at being a 'Donkey Jockey' She got to show Cowboy in the Donkey races and Bishop....he was one of the fastest donkey's there!!
In 2004 John and Julie Picot bought some property up in Valley Center, California. Julie and John enjoy the miles of trails through Hell Hole Canyon...an open space preserve right by their house.

Julie Picot does all of her training and riding lessons at Savvy Stables in Escondido, Ca. Savvy Stables is a 20 acre facility that focuses on the principles of Natural Horsemanship. The owners, Mike and Cindy Giannini, have done a wonderful job at creating a welcoming environment for horses and their owners.
